Conventional or Implant-Supported Dentures?

For many years, full dentures were manufactured to fit snugly against a patient’s gums. Now patients can choose between conventional dentures and ones that are anchored to dental implants.

For implant-supported dentures, Dr. Lipson works with carefully chosen oral surgeons. The surgeon places the implants and they are allowed to heal. Temporary dentures enable the patient to eat and maintain a normal appearance in the interim.

When the implants have fully bonded to the bone in the jaw, new dentures are manufactured that will be secured by the implants. The dentures can snap into an attachment built into the implant, or they can be permanently secured to the implant. A “snap-in” denture can be removed by the patient at home. A denture that is permanently attached to implants can be removed in our office for cleaning or repair.
