Bridges

Bridges

There are two types of dental bridges. The first is a traditional bridge that consists of porcelain crowns which are cemented to teeth on either side of the gap. Between the crowns is one or more artificial teeth to fill in the gap.

The second type of bridge is an implant-supported bridge. In this case, the crowns on either side of the gap are anchored to dental implants. Then, as in the case of a traditional bridge, there are one or two replacement teeth in the middle.

An implant-supported bridge is more secure than a traditional bridge and is more beneficial to oral health. It has the additional advantage of not requiring the healthy teeth on either side of the gap to be drilled down to accept a crown.
